Griffith Intermediate Receives Innovative Technology Grant

Griffith Intermediate students are quickly learning financial awareness and environmental systems thanks to a $79,208 grant from The Innovative Technology Education Fund (ITEF).

“This grant provides our students with an opportunity to be hands-on with 21st-century technology-based learning opportunities. While also providing a meaningful opportunity to do something great for their community in a collaborative environment,” said David Holmes, Library Media Specialist at Griffith.

As part of the grant, students have begun project implementation by creating a financial awareness campaign, weekly money management plans, and a business entrepreneurial impact study. ITEF provides competitive grants to allow schools in the region to create innovative learning opportunities through technology.

The student learning project focuses on relevant responsive activities that invite student choice while supporting project-based learning that integrates math and reading goals. Griffith is one of three schools in the St. Louis area to be awarded out of twenty-six grant submissions. The project will extend into the 2020-21 school year.

ITEF is a St. Louis, Missouri based, charitable, nonprofit, private 501 (c)(3) foundation that supports innovation in education by funding advanced technology in the classrooms of public, private, parochial, and charter schools in the greater St. Louis area. In addition, they provide opportunities for educators to continue to grow and learn in their field.
