Dr. Joycelyn Pugh-Walker

Dr. Joycelyn Pugh-Walker brings over 30 years of experience in education and leadership, having served in the Maplewood-Richmond Heights and Riverview Gardens School Districts before joining Ferguson-Florissant in 2015. She serves as the Executive Director of Federal Programs, overseeing the effective financial planning and management of federal funds and implementing financial controls to comply with federal and state statutes, regulations, and policies.
A proud resident of North County, she holds a doctorate in education policy and leadership from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She earned a master’s degree in elementary education from University of Missouri-St. Louis and a second master’s degree in school administration from Lindenwood University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Mr. Brent Mitchell
Co-Acting Superintendent

Mr. Brent Mitchell brings nearly 25 years of experience in education and administration leadership. He joined Ferguson-Florissant in 2023 as the Chief of Staff and currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Support Services. Prior to coming to the District, he has held various roles, including assistant superintendent of academics and operations, principal, and assistant principal in Pulaski County Special School District, Little Rock School District, and Ignite Community Schools in Texas. Mitchell holds superintendent certifications in Missouri and Arkansas. He also holds principal certifications in Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas. Mitchell began his career in education as a middle school science teacher.
He is pursuing his doctorate from Liberty University. He holds an education specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Central Arkansas. He also holds a dual master's in teaching and educational leadership from Harding University and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
