  • The STEAM Academy Middle School is a challenging school for high-ability learners in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. Students work at an accelerated pace and focus on solving real-world problems through project-based learning. 

    Only current fifth grade students will be considered in the STEAM Academy Middle School Application Process. 

    Students who are identified as gifted and attend Probe will be sent a letter of intent through email if they are eligible to enroll at STEAM Academy Middle School.

    Admitted students will begin at the STEAM Academy Middle School as sixth grade students. 

    Applications will be accepted from January 5th-January 22nd, 2024.  The application is for current fifth graders only.

Application Process

  • Phase 1 Review of students’ Galileo Benchmark scores in Science, Math, and Reading.  Students with excellent test scores may be invited to begin Phase II in February.
  • Phase 2 Applicants chosen for Phase II will need to provide recommendations from teachers, principals, coaches, etc. and participate in three events: Interview, Art Assessment, and a Performance Task
  • All interviews will be scheduled at the intermediate schools during the school day. In March, students will be notified if they have been selected to attend the STEAM Academy as sixth grade students.
  • Those students not chosen may be placed on a waiting list and will attend if space becomes available. Students who qualify for Gifted Education will be notified if they may attend STEAM. Probe students will not participate in the application and interview process.

Admission for Probe Students in Grade 5

  • Fifth grade students who qualify for Gifted Education will be notified if they may attend STEAM. These students will be sent an Intent to Enroll form in January. Probe students will not participate in the application and interview process. 

Admission for Probe Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8
