Framework

The counselors at Johnson-Wabash 6th Grade Center operate under the framework of the K-12 Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program model.

This model is a collaborative, team-based approach that involves counselors, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators to address student needs effectively. The program at the center is designed to assist students in three key areas:

  • Interpersonal/Intrapersonal Development: Fostering social-emotional skills, self-awareness, and healthy relationships.

  • Academic Development: Supporting students' learning needs and helping them develop skills for school success.

  • Career Development: Introducing students to career exploration and future planning.

These services are delivered through a variety of methods, including classroom presentations, small groups, short-term one-on-one (short-term) counseling, and referrals to outside organizations.

Some of the outside agencies and programs we partner with include:

  • CHADS Coalition

    • SOS (Signs of Suicide) Classroom Presentations

  • Great Circle Therapist Services

  • Hazel Heart Virtual Therapy Services

  • Wyman
