McCluer North's Mission and Philosophy
-
McCluer North High School purposefully attempts to make our local and global communities better places by holistically educating students for a lifetime of learning.
With this as our idealistic goal, North teachers and staff foster visionary, questioning, knowledgeable, and reflective students through positive relationships built on mutual understanding.
We believe in preparing ethical students who will thrive in an interdependent world through integrative learning of many subjects, critical analysis of data, and thoughtful inquiry.
Philosophy
-
Students learn best in an atmosphere highlighting individual strengths while challenging the unfamiliar and unknown. McCluer North teachers and staff seek to balance these apparent opposites by formulating engaging lessons, encouraging students to push their thinking while respecting differences. We can choose to mutually disagree and still keep a culture of genuine learning and dignity for all.
The application of writing, speaking, listening and reading skills with evidential demonstration of learning is a priority in our instruction. Since each student learns uniquely, we seek to differentiate instruction.
The North community will inspire individual and collective goals for improving the community, nation, and world by asking probing questions. Using understandable frameworks, we will evaluate and reflect upon student learning for the purpose of improving instruction.
